Once again about castration

My little comment ;)

What is the difference between CASTRATION and STERILIZATION, you can read HERE >>>

Sterilization does not affect the sexual desire of animals, their instincts do not decrease and do not lose their intensity. At the same time, animals can mate, but they stop producing offspring.

Castration is an operation in which there is a complete removal of organs that are responsible for the reproduction of animals.

This post has been brewing for a long time.

The eternal discussion of dog owners and cat owners about sterilization. In this post, I describe exclusively the biological and medical aspects for and against this step. I will also discuss moral and religious issues with pleasure, but not here. I will also try to refrain from complex biological terminology, and in some places knowledgeable in biology will notice specific inaccuracies, simply because the accuracy will stretch the article by an order of magnitude. But still, you'll have to start with the basics before you start arguing.

A man tamed a wolf and a wild cat, who had previously lived in the forest and steppe. Moreover, in the forest is not tropical, but in the middle zone and even further north, which is important.

In nature, the only sources of light and the only way to determine time are the sun, moon and stars. The length of daylight depends on the time of year and is clearly related to the availability of food and air temperature. In wild dogs and cats (as well as tigers, wolves, bears, whales, etc.), breeding cycles are clearly related to the length of daylight. At a certain length of the day, certain parts of the brain send certain signals to the adrenal glands, they secrete certain hormones, the rut begins and the animal is looking for a mate.

I will immediately note that the human reproductive cycle is completely different. Man as a species has spread to hot countries where food is available all year round, it is never cold, and the length of day and night varies slightly. At the equator, if anyone does not know, they are clearly 12 hours all year round.

And he domesticated dogs and cats when he moved north - in the subtropics and tropics he didn't really need helpers. Therefore, a woman's reproductive cycle is associated exclusively with the phases of the moon and is not related to the time of year.

I repeat, it is impossible to compare here with a person who has not only changed over the years much more fundamentally than even a wolf before a chihuahua, but also before that bred according to completely different rules.

Let's go back to our sheep, that is, dogs. If rutting and mating occur too early, the cubs will be born in the cold and before the forage grass grows or the forage animals multiply. Therefore, the pregnancy of predators is always a little longer than that of their specific food base (not counting cattle, there is already a different system). Roughly speaking, the pregnancy of a fox is longer than that of a mouse and a hare, and that of a tigress is longer than that of an antelope.

If the animal gives birth too late, then by autumn and by the cold weather, the cubs will not have time to grow and get stronger and will die. For this reason, for example, a bear mates in summer and gives birth in winter without leaving hibernation - her fat will last for the whole family until March-April, when she will come out and immediately feed the cubs with something in addition to milk. But by the next cold weather, the cubs will be almost one year old, and the bear needs a lot, a lot of fat for the winter, and it should be eaten as long as possible.

That is, wolves give birth strictly once a year - in the spring. The month depends on the latitude - in the south earlier, in the north later. Large (non-tropical) cats also give birth once a year, small ones can give birth twice, but at their own risk, and therefore do it in extremely rare cases - closer to the equator and in particularly productive years, and with a serious risk of death for the cubs and the mother. And now attention - not even every year is sufficiently productive. Yes, every year there are cubs, but not every wolf. A wolf may not flow in some year at all due to lack of food, due to (due to lack of food) the status system in the pack is arranged when only the dominant female gives birth, who gets more food, and who, due to frequent childbirth, ages faster and gives way to the young, and for a bunch of other reasons. All this time, the body of the unborn female is stocked with trace elements, and in general, it works only for itself.

Because the body of a wolf or a cat, set up for one pregnancy per year, stores and loses calcium in the expectation of this. Even if there is a lot of food around, different substances are absorbed in different quantities and accumulation requires certain deadlines, because, for example, calcium, if too little is absorbed, will weaken bones and make milk poorer, and if a lot, will cause arthritis and gout. Everything is interconnected, one is tuned to the other and works like a Swiss watch.

And so, the wolf turns into a dog, the wild cat is domesticated, and they get into human habitation. And there's a hearth/candle/lantern/TV. That's it, the end of the cycle. Pets live with humans for too little time to change such fundamental laws of universal functioning. The dog's brain finally gets confused in time, ceases to understand what time of year it is now and starts a desire to get married urgently. In males - permanently, and in females - at any time, most often three times a year. Because there is enough food, why not?

But a dog and a cat giving birth more often than in nature, trite wears out. trace elements do not have time to recover, no matter how many of them are in the feed, muscles - to contract, kidneys and liver - to rest.

To preserve health, a dog should not give birth more than once a year, and a cat should not give birth three times in two years. In nature, they don't want to more often. They just don't want to.

No, of course you can lock your dog in a windowless room from dusk to dawn, and then the cycle will become natural, but any lamp will destroy everything back. The glow over the night city is perceived by the brain as early twilight, whether you want it or not. By the way, you can also prevent estrus by ceasing to feed normally. Well, wolves in the forest can eat once a week. Only then no one will give birth, there is not enough food for themselves. And the weak will die, but the strong will survive.

Okay, let's just not knit the animal too often. And then the problems begin, which people do not experience.

During ovulation, a female egg (most often a single one or several, which then die, except for the one that is fertilized) leaves the ovary and only then is fertilized with a seed. Since women are sexually active all year, if conception does not occur, it will occur next month. The egg leaves the body with menstruation.

A cat or a dog cannot afford such waste. The guard, if not now, then in a year, and you may live to see it! Their estrus begins BEFORE ovulation, and by the time of conception the dog has been ready for a long time, behaved and smelled appropriately and found a male. If the male does not show up, the egg does not go anywhere. Generally. It remains in the ovary and turns into a microcyst. Moreover, the more cysts, the more often estrus, which merge into tumors, touch the uterus, provoke a specific oncology and hello. Google "uterine fibroids in cats" photos are so unappetizing that you won't wish that on your personal murka. Breast tumors of varying degrees of malignancy are loaded.

Dogs have a wonderful and amazing false schennost to the heap. It starts out very cute, the dog is trying to feed milk to a rubber toy, and say thank you if it ends with this. Because next time it will end with a sublimated instinct to protect the offspring. From you. Instincts will struggle with the experience that says that you are a mommy-daddy favorite, and even if the dog does not bite you, it will seriously harm her psyche.

Cats do not have a false puppy, but you run the risk of observing a cascade estrus, the chance of which and the turbulence of which depend on the breed of cat (Siamese is guaranteed with the removal of the brain of neighbors on the other side of the street, Persian - less often, quietly and unobtrusively) and personal temperament, but in any case it will end with polycystic ovaries, kidney stones and the same uterine fibroids. Both cats and dogs, during this period, the heart wears out a lot. Do you need it?

That is, it turns out - it is impossible to give birth, and it is impossible not to give birth. Guard, we've arrived.

The second problem that cats have and humans do not have is the lack of menopause. Menopause is not only in humans, it is, for example, in whales and higher monkeys, in general, in pack animals, which, when training cubs, transmit to them a huge amount of experience. Who rely on their own experience more than on instincts, which do not need to be taught. And who spend a lot of time and effort on cubs.

For a pack of wolves and the species as a whole, a female unable to give birth is useless. As soon as her body does not cope with pregnancy so much that estrus stops (or the old dog ceases to "want"), oncology begins. Yes, there is a chance to avoid it and live for a few more years, but usually animals burn up in a year. A person can delay this time with medicine, but he will become a regular customer of the veterinarian. That is, the dog flows to the last, to extreme old age, after which it quickly dies - mainly from cancer.

A woman has a God-blessed event - menopause. When she stops giving birth herself, but continues to live, raising her grandchildren, passing on the experience to her daughters. An old man can no longer have children, but this also does not affect his health, which by this time is not the best without sexual tension. Sexual functions in men do not disappear in one winter, but gradually subside throughout old age, by its middle going beyond the minimum when they matter, but then decreasing. But everyone around him uses his experience (the main thing is to notice senile senility in time :)) Yes, life is changing too fast now, and grandfather does not always know more than his grandson, but this state of affairs is two hundred years old, and if you were interested in the cause of menopause, here it is.
